With over a decade of experience speaking to audiences of all sizes—from intimate groups to tens of thousands live at a time—I know firsthand how challenging effective communication can be. My journey hasn't been easy; like many, I’ve faced intense anxiety and battled perfectionism. But everything changed for me when I began to approach communication in a new way. I learned that you'll never find your voice, if you don't first discover your identity.

This unique method helped me go from significant self-doubt to communicating with ease. And when I say ease, no, I don't mean perfection. Because when we lead from a place of internal alignment, we’re preoccupied with genuine connection,
not perfection.

I went from panic attacks to calmly communicating
live to tens of thousands at a time.

I used to think I had a solid handle on my identity as a pastor. Stepping onto the stage or in front of the camera, I would wear my favorite gold hoops and “lucky” lipstick, always looking the part. But inside, something felt off.

Over time, I started to notice the gap: my outward confidence didn’t match my inner self. Even though I was skilled in communication, a quiet anxiety was growing. Then, it 2017, it happened for the first time.
I had a panic attack.

It was a wake-up call. Every part of me wanted to retreat, to hide. But instead, I decided to confront it. It wasn't my style to run away- so I kept saying yes to speaking, preaching, and leading, all while silently battling anxiety that threatened to undo me.

I knew there had to be a better way.

I began to take a hard look at my identity—not just what I did, but who I truly was. I realized that while I had many of the skills needed to communicate, my view of myself was still shaped by old messages—things other people had said or done that lingered longer than I realized. Past decisions and relationships still affected how I showed up, especially when I stepped up to a microphone.

That’s when I noticed a shift. Through the process of internal work and a unique approach to communication growth, I began to speak with ease—anxiety didn’t hold me back anymore. I felt grounded and confident in spaces that used to make me want to hide. The panic attacks? They disappeared.
I stopped feeling like I had to perform.

Here’s the thing: I went through this alone, but you don't have to. Along the way, I documented this method, because I hoped that perhaps one day, it could help you too. That’s why I’m developing this space- to guide you through this same transformational journey.

We gather together for two large group zooms per month, optional prayer network, and quarterly meetups. There's even an option to add on 1-1 Mentorship if you want some extra coaching and accountability.

How It Works

We will gather via zoom twice per month!
The first live call will include an interactive communication or identity teaching with Dani followed by discussion and application.
The second will include a hotseat with a female leader from a different industry sector, hearing about their experience and participating in a live Q&A (see below for first season, more will be added along the way!)

Hey there!

I'm Dani Hicks, your new hype girl.

I spent the last 11 years on staff at Elevation Church as a pastor and communicator. Over the years, I've carried many titles: pastor, pastor's wife, mom, coach, and leader. I always wrestled with feeling like I didn't quite fit in to any of those preconceived templates - I'm a little intense, kind of loud, a tad ADHD, and let's be honest, I wasn't making a casserole any time soon :)

Over the years, I learned that really understanding who we are can change everything—not just how we communicate, but every part of our lives. As women, moms, wives, and leaders, we need to shape our identities based on who God has uniquely called us to be, not what culture expects.
